Zahra Kazemi

Ziba.jpg
Last Friday a ceremony was held in Concordia in the memory of zahra kazemi (ziba) a Canadian photojournalist who was killed in Iranian prisons last year. You can find a report of the ceremony in Persian here. The first thing to notice was that the ceremony was excellent, it started with a dance, continued with a very appropriate pace, just a small political talk by Shahrzad Mojab, and ended with a very good Latin American music ensemble and another dance. It was really enjoyable.

Anyways there are many reports of the ceremony; my point here is that, I remember that last year we were worried about the consequences of the incident which could affect the process of issuing visas for students who were coming to Canada. Unfortunately again this year as Iran has denied the Canadian officials to observe the court which is processing the case, Canada has summoned its ambassador from Tehran. although I don't think that this will take a long time, but it seriously frightens the wave of young Iranian students who are counting seconds to flee Iran, and is only to benefit of Iranian Rulers.
