Well Iran has two choices, to close the airline until further notice, or to continue the service. I guess they are looking for some quick and temporary solutions until the US removes part of the technological embargo, and I guess they foresee such change in the States' policy.
On the other hand, they always have the choice to buy brand new modern Russian fleet (not those old rubbish ones). but firstly the chinese second hand boeings are cheaper, secondly the iranian technicians are kind of familiar with the service and maintenance of boeing aircrafts, and thirdly operating 'very' different types of aircrafts is expensive.
